The intention contract must provide for an on-ground pre-purchase inspection, log book inspection (including inspection of maintenance records), flight test and more. These inspections are intended to make it clear to the seller that the aircraft is exactly what the seller claims it to be.
A key point of the transaction is the inspection entity named in the contract. My recommendation is to have the aircraft inspected by the manufacturer, rather than a random mechanic.
